Performed research and studies:

The center conducted many research projects and scientific studies which had been reported, published in scientific journals, conferences, and both local and international symposiums, and it covers the scientific following fields:

 
-Fish biology.
-Aquaculture.
-Environmental studies.
-Pollution studies and research
-Invertebrates studies.
-Marine sediments
-Endangered marine biota studies
-Zoo and phytoplankton studies.
-Wet lands studies for the potentiality of utilizing them as live food sources for fish feeding.
-Economical technical and social visi-bility studies for establishing fish farms in the following areas:¬
-Wadi Ellahmor, Abu saada and Um-Elkhnafice (1998)
-Bumba gulf and Um-Elshawesh gulf (1999)
-El.khteata gulf and El-Burdi gulf (1999)
-Perform economical visibility study for a proposed culture and fattening (Tealabia Fishes) at the drainage pro¬ject in Sukna town.


Marine surveys: In addition to the stud¬ies, research and scientific reports accomplished periodically by the center. It is important to mention the most important marine and coastal studies which was done by the center along the Libyan coast through cooperation with foreign research teams using local and foreign ships:¬

from the center covered the area be¬tween Sicily island North Tunisia, and Libya South and Sirt gulf and the narrow continental shelf of Tu¬brok coast had been surveyed during the period from 18/8/ to 19/9/1972, for the purpose of studying the eco¬nomical visibility of this area,.

* An international consultancy study on
* The Libyan French (Sogeria) scientif¬ic team study (1973-1974). The Lib¬yan western areas had been studied thoroughly by the joint Libyan Soge-reia French scientific team using the Libyan research ships ( Albaheth and Elmokteshef) through the peri¬od of September to October 1974, it covered the marine area from Misu¬rata to Gabis gulf to the west at depths from 0-400 meter.


 

About MBRC

The Marine Biology Research Center was established in  September 1984, the Marine Fisheries Research Center merged with the Marine Biology Re­search Center (MBRC) of Tajura in or­der to unite and the capabilities the ex­pertise of both centers.
Since its establishment until now, the center had endeavoured to accomplish these goals.
